Up and until very recently I was someone who would read just about everything I could find on health. I think it would be fair to say I was a health nut. It’s probably easy to understand because I was hugely overweight and after losing it and getting as shape back then perhaps you can understand why someone becomes obsessed with staying that way.
Any articles on health I could find to help with my fitness, diet, supplements to help prolong life, I would read them. I just get annoyed when I read articles on health now because I have read so many that tell you one thing is really good for you one day then say how bad it is the next.
It’s no good telling people how good soy is one day than saying it can have adverse effects the next. I swear, all I want is to find the perfect diet, the perfect exercise routine, and the perfect lifestyle to keep myself as healthy as I can for as long as I possibly can.
You see it becomes very confusing when each and every article on health you read has a different answer to the same problem. A prime example of these confusing contradictions is with coffee; chocolate and alcohol which we’re told were not good for you. Now it turns out that wine is good for you, beer is good for you provided it is dark beer, chocolate is good for you if it is dark chocolate, and even coffee has been found to have some health benefits when used in moderation. I can see that very soon these same experts will tell us to forget everything they have told us about our cholesterol levels and to start consuming cake, fast foods and ice cream again.
Well it took some time but all these so called experts have managed to do is make people wary about what they are told and to be responsible for themselves. I am not going to stop reading articles on health because I still enjoy them but I do not intent to let them dictate how I should live my life.
After saying all of this, I know I’ll continue to read articles on health but I will look at them with different eyes, besides they usually have some very good exercise workouts. Surely I am no different from anyone else in wanting an active life, but I just do not want the constant infringement on my personal freedom that I’ve had over many years from these so called experts.
