This commentary is all about the not very pleasant topic of female HPV warts and their symptoms. It is a nasty condition which can cause distress and embarrassment to millions of women worldwide.
Females can become infected with HPV genital warts through sexual contact with their partner. The actual disease is call HPV (Human Papillomavirus) and is a very common STD which affects not just millions of women, but also millions of men each year. There are actually over 100 different strains of HPV and not all cause genital warts – some can cause traditional warts such as ones on a persons hands.
When I was a child, had two small warts on my hand, which over time went away without treatment. Fortunately the warts didn’t cause me any real problems or social sigma, unlike female genital warts, which are a much more uncomfortable and emotional problematic infection to have – again speaking from understanding im afraid.
So what happens when a female is infected with the HPV virus? – it causes an infection. Warts can look very different from person to person, so it can be difficult to figure out if you really have a case of Warts, or perhaps another infection or condition. What you should look out for if you think you have the symptoms of female genital warts, or indeed any type of genital wart is the following:
The skin can become bumpy and rough
Small fingerlike growths can build up inside or outside the vagina( or the penis)
Small fingerlike growths can develop on the cervix, vulva or the perineum, and in or around the anus.
It is important to note the the symptoms of Warts may not appear straight away – rather it can take up to several weeks or months before you see any visible signs of infection. It is important to understand that because you dont see any signs of a wart you could still be infected, indeed men can be carriers of HPV and show no signs at all.. You can also pass the warts onto someone else at this stage.
What makes warts spread so easily is the fact the human skin is always shedding itself – this is why it is so important to make sure that your male partner is always using protection during sex.
If you have HPV Warts please consult a doctor asap as they are highly communicable.
Treatment of hPV Warts
The best piece of advice I can give is that prevention is better than cure! So although there are several cures available for treating Female and Male hPV Warts it is so much easier and much less embarrassing to ask the man to make sure he puts ‘a cap on it’ (condom) before having sexual intercourse.
