With autumn and shortly after winter coming up it will be ice skating season sooner than later and our kids will need a new pair of childrens ice skates. Every year their skates fit for just one season because their feet are pretty much ever grwoing from tiny to not so tiny anymore to … their father´s seize?! I dread the buy of new pairs every single year because it is mostly me who is tasked with taking our little ones and head to a shop.

Toddler ice skates is nothing you can just go and buy in a Wall Mart or shop like this. You need to have your kid with you so that it can try them on. There are specific requirements that need to be met in order to ensure that they will sit comfortably and last the entire seson. We are talking about features such as heel hold, toe room and also about the material the shell is made of.

Bindings are another relevant factor. Modern skates often times have a buckle and snap system that can be very convenient to have.

Our family though is more on the old fashioned side and especially my husband insists that our kids should learn how to properly tie ths skate laces. He argues that this has bee done by skaters all over the planet, from those who enjoy skating in the wildernes on a frozen lake to olympic figurine skaters. So, why not our children?! This is one of the points that I can totally agree on with him.

Where our opinion seriusly differs though is when it comes to the type of skates to buy. He wants that both our boy and our little girl wear hockey skates. But hockey skates for a little girl? I am inclined to see her in figurine skates which are not only less heavy but are also way more suitable for a girl. She is the adorable princess type of girl and alsways wants to look cute just like the Disney characters she adores at a time. She likes delicate things. You want to meet what your children like with logic, common sense and what is practical. I simply do not see her ending up as an ice hockey player somewhere in the national league one day.
With this argument in mind I bundled them up the other day and we drove to a sports equipment shop across town.

It was a great if unexpected experience and the dreaded shoping turned out to be rather delightful. We were not the only ones preparing for the upcoming season on the ice rink and I found myself immersed in a passionate discussion with 3 other mothers on the subject while my kids were trying on children´s skates, discarding them, pulling out another pair, comparing them with their new friends and basically went through most every pair for sale in the shop.

The 76ers are a professional basketball team. They play in a league called the National Basketball Association. This league is most commonly accepted to be the highest level of competition in the world. They play in the Eastern Conference in the Atlantic Division.

The 76ers were founded in 1939. They did not initially play in the National Basketball Association. They beganknown as the Syracuse Reds and the Syracuse Nationals. When they joined the NBA in 1949 they were still known as the Nationals. The team continued to go by this name until 1963. In 1963 the team moved to Philadelphia and decided on the name of the 76ers.

In their history they have managed 3 NBA Championship, 5 Conference Titles and 11 Division Titles. The franchise really made a splash from the beginning when they joined the NBA.The 76ers franchise managed to win their Division title. They would continue a winning record for the rest of the 1950’s and managed to win their division three separate times in that decade. The last division title game was in 1955. The last division title in the 50’s would by far be the sweetest of them all. They had never won a championship to that point and they were ready to take home their first one. They played hard and made their way to the NBA Finals game. The team managed to win their first NBA championship title in 1955.

Things started to slow down for the team after that championship season. They weren’t able to string together the same sort of success for many seasons. It was more than ten years later that they won their next division title. After winning that division title in the 1965-66 season it seemed that the team was back on track. They were not able to win the championship that season, but they were preparing their team to make another run.

In the 1966-67 season everything seemed to click for the 76ers. The team had recently moved to Philadelphia and they had tons of fan support. They also had one of the best big men of all time. This legendary giant was known as Wilt Chamberlain. Many remember Chamberlain for his play on the Lakers, but he was already a huge success before joining the Lakers. He managed to route the team to a 46-4 start to that season. They managed 68 wins overall in the regular season. They went on to win the championship for the 2nd time in franchise history with a victory over the Warriors.

The team eventually experienced another tough time. It looked like they were down in the dumps, but the team made an acquisition that would change it all. We remember this legend as Dr. J. Dr. J, or Julius Erving, that led the team to the finals 4 separate times. The team even managed to win the whole thing in 1983 with Dr. J at the helm. People remember him as one of the greatest, most exciting players of all time.

The 76ers have not aquired another championship since 1983, but they have seen great seasons when led by stars such as Allen Iverson. The team is currently in a poor state and hopes to turn it around in 2010-11.

I hope if dogs ever take over the world, and they chose a king, they don't just go by size, because I bet there are some Chihuahuas with some good ideas...
